Early Life and Career

Samantha Lewes was born on November 29, 1952, in Santa Monica, California. She began her acting career in the 1970s, appearing in small roles in films and television shows.

Breakthrough Role

Lewes' breakout role came in 1980 when she starred as Diane in the NBC sitcom "Bosom Buddies." The show was a huge success, and Lewes quickly became a household name.

Personal Life

Lewes was married to actor Tom Hanks from 1978 to 1987. They had two children together, Colin and Elizabeth. After her divorce from Hanks, Lewes married actor Jason Robards in 1991. They remained married until Robards' death in 2000.

Later Career

Lewes continued to act throughout the 1980s and 1990s, appearing in films such as "Mr. Mom" (1983) and "The Player" (1992). She also had guest roles on numerous television shows.

Death

Lewes died of cancer on March 12, 2002 at the age of 49. She is survived by her two children, Colin Hanks and Elizabeth Hanks.
