Maximilian Arnold’s Goal Earns VfL Wolfsburg a Share of the Points

SC Freiburg and VfL Wolfsburg played out a 1-1 draw on Matchday 33 of the German Bundesliga. Maximilian Arnold’s stunning free-kick goal canceled out Michael Gregoritsch’s early opener as both sides shared the spoils at the Europa-Park Stadion.

Freiburg took the lead after just 12 minutes when Gregoritsch headed home Vincenzo Grifo’s cross. However, Wolfsburg responded well to going behind and drew level 15 minutes later. Arnold curled a beautiful free-kick into the top corner of the net, leaving Freiburg goalkeeper Mark Flekken with no chance.

Both teams had chances to win the game in the second half, but neither could find a way through. Freiburg pressed for a winner but found Wolfsburg’s defense in resolute form. At the other end, Wolfsburg threatened on the counterattack but failed to make the most of their opportunities.

The draw leaves Freiburg in fifth place in the Bundesliga, while Wolfsburg remains in seventh. Freiburg is still in the race for a Champions League spot, but they will need to win their remaining games and hope for other results to go their way.
